Shared City Partnership: Belonging to Belfast Publications

PEACE IV recently commissioned ArtsEkta to produce two booklets under the ‘Belonging to Belfast’ title – one for adults and one for children. Working closely with local communities, they drew a picture of the history and trajectory of individuals and their communities here in Belfast who had been involved in Belfast City Council’s Culture Café series of events that ran from 2018-2022.

The adults’ booklet looks at individuals’ personal stories and how they feel to have settled in Belfast with some fascinating anecdotes and insights. The children’s booklet is an excellent resource to look at diversity in the local context for children aged 5-11, with games, recipes, arts & crafts and more.

The booklets were designed to showcase the rich diversity in our City and show how multifaceted Belfast is. They share the traditions, life, food, cultural artefacts, and language of the diverse cultures that call Belfast their home. They were designed to promote understanding, encourage respect for others and engage communities to build good relations.

Please find links below to the PDF version of Belfast City Council’s Cultural café publication, both the adult and kids' version. These outstanding resources are available in hardcopy too, if you and any groups that you work with are interested in receiving these please just send an email to peace@belfastcity.gov.uk.
