Belfast Mela Carnival Parade

The Mela Carnival Parade will be taking place in the city centre on Saturday 20th August 2022 as part of their week long programme of world music, dance, food and art across the city. Some details of the parade are as follows:

  • The parade will start at 12:30pm, moving along Donegal Street, Bridge Street, High Street, Donegal Place then ending at City Hall (please see the route map below).

  • Expected finish -1:30pm

  • Expected participants – 800

  • Expected spectators –10,000

  • There will be rolling road closures along the carnival parade route between 11.40am and 1.30pm.

  • Diversions will be in place on roads and streets that intersect this route.

  • A Mela Global Village consisting of performances, workshops and a food market will be located in the City Hall grounds from 1pm-5pm.

You can be a part of the colour procession and walk the route while throwing colourful powders in a party atmosphere among friends! Simply register to take part here and come along on the day, dressed in white, to receive your free pack of colours to create a colour frenzy across the city centre like never seen before.
