Belfast City Council is looking for your views on whether or not large shops in Belfast may open for longer on Sundays in order to boost the city’s economy and tourism offering.
If adopted, the proposals – which use existing legislation and are already in place in some other towns in Northern Ireland – would apply to Sundays between 1 March and 30 September only (excluding Easter Sunday), with shops of a certain size able to use extended hours of their choosing on up to 18 Sundays within this period.
The public consultation period will run until Friday 5 May 2017. We hope to obtain a wide range of views and opinions and we would like to invite you to take part in the process.
A description of the consultation and questionnaire, can be obtained via the following link: www.belfastcity.gov.uk/consultations
If you require the consultation questionnaire in another format, please contact the Development Department.
