St Patrick’s Day parade and concert

Belfast will mark St Patrick’s Day, celebrating the theme of Global Belfast, with a carnival parade and free concert on Saturday 17 March 2018.
The streets will be awash with colour from 11.30am and will follow a new route this year.

The parade will leave from Royal Avenue at 11.30am, travelling through Castle Junction and along Donegall Place before snaking its way around Belfast City Hall, and then returning along the same route again, finishing at Royal Avenue.

Community groups from across our cultural spectrum will be taking part in the parade alongside professional and amateur performers, costumed characters, musicians and dancers.

Free concert

Visitors can make their way to Custom House Square to enjoy the annual concert, hosted by Q Radio presenters Gareth Stewart and Eoghan Quigg, from 1.30pm, featuring local musicians and dancers, along with special guest appearances.

Headlining this year’s concert will be Aston Merrygold, former JLS Member and Strictly Come Dancing Star, Aston is sure to blow you away with not just his voice but his incredible dance moves.

Offering a magnificent high energy performance SlideStep, an award-winning modern Irish dancing group with cutting edge contemporary movement, will show you a whole new style of Irish dance. Festival Irish Dancing School Tir Na n-Og recent winners of NI Seniors Team title for the fifth year running, will take to the stagee with a heart stopping performance.

Local musicians also performing on the day include:

  •     The Rare Aul Stuff
  •     JORD and Tanaka.

Access to the concert is free and entry is on a first come first served basis (no ticket required). Terms and conditions of entry apply. Gates will open at 1.15pm and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The Craic 10k

The Craic 10k race starts at City Hall at 9am and finishes at Titanic Slipways. Rolling road closures will be in place from 8.30am - 11am in the city centre.

A Traffic Management System and signage will be in place and motorists should follow directions of Police and any signage.  Delays/ diversions can be expected at the following times and places-

Belfast City Hall / Wellington Place/ Chichester Street 0830-1000

Divis Street/ Falls Road / Grosvenor Road 0900- 0940

Countrybound traffic on Divis Street will experience delays until approx. 0930hrs.  Access to Divis Street from Westlink will be restricted during this time.

Victoria Street/ Dunbar Link area 0845-0950

Corporation St from 0900-1030

Queens Road Area Belfast Harbour Estate 0915- 1030
