Retail Crimewatch goes Digital

June has been an extremely busy month for our award winning Retail Crimewatch scheme. Not only is the success of our Flagging System continuing to grow with 27 successful burglary convictions to date but we are now finally ready to launch our new online digital platform for the scheme with a system called Egress. Egress is a Department of Justice approved file sharing platform. Belfast City Centre Management has purchased the Egress system to better securely distribute the Retail Crimewatch monthly images. Egress will enable members to access the system from their computers, mobile phones and/or tablet. It also restricts user’s ability to share or download the images from the system.

Belfast City Centre Management has adopted this program in order to better service our members as customers. The system will distribute shoplifter images faster and more securely than before. By being able to distribute monthly Retail Crimewatch images electronically it will enable Belfast City Centre Management to adopt more users onto the system from different policing districts providing more images of offenders and the ability to securely broadcast messages within a live environment from the PSNI.

Belfast City Centre Management will be rolling the new system to members from the end of this month and will be in touch with member premises over the coming weeks.
