Culture Night Belfast will return for its ninth year on Friday 22nd September 2017!
This year’s event will include 300 live events taking place at venues across the city centre from City Hall to the Harbour Commissioners Office. As always the events will be free of charge and include a selection of all things cultural and creative from music to dance, theatre, art, urban sports and much, much more!
Last year over 80,000 people attended Culture Night and this year we are expecting an even greater number. With such a large volume of people attending the event we are working closely with the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services as well as a host of other agencies to ensure that public safety is maintained and that the event is well managed. The programme of events will take place between 13.00 - 22.00. the delivery and installation of event infrastructure will take place on Thursday 21st September at 15.00.
Of course Culture Night would not be possible without the continued support and good will of all the people who live and work in and around Cathedral Quarter and city centre and we are keen to provide as much information as possible to minimise any inconvenience caused by the event.
Parking on the day of the event will be limited in key areas of Cathedral Quarter. There will be no on-street car parking spaces available on Donegall Street, North Street, Union Street, Kent Street, Academy Street, Exchange Street, Hill Street, Waring Street, Skipper Street, Talbot Street and Upper Royal Avenue. The build-up of people attending the event means that some roads may be closed to traffic from 3pm onward. The roads most likely to be affected are those listed above. Culture Night is the one day of the year when we encourage everyone to leave their car at home, or, if this is not possible, to make use of parking facilities on the periphery of the city centre.
The Culture Night parade will be setting off from Upper Royal Avenue at 16.00 before turning on to North Street then onto Waring Street and finally along Donegal Street. Time permitting the parade will complete two circuits of the route before dis-assembling on Royal Avenue at 17.15.
The proposed traffic diversion schedule is;
Hill Street, Gordon Street, Union Street, Library Street, Litlte Donegal Street, Skipper Street, Kent Street
Royal Avenue, North Street, Donegal Street, Waring Street, Academy Street, Exchange Street, York Street
