City Dressing

BCCM’s City Dressing programme provides animation across the city centre.  Through a multi-agency approach, BCCM identifies city dressing projects to deliver shorter term solutions to encourage better connectivity for the city’s users and promote a more vibrant shared space.

Through city dressing (banners, lighting animation and soft landscaping), this project can tackle some of the blight in the city centre due to the lack of public spending and investment in larger scale environmental schemes.  The Banner Dressing programme promotes and supports key city events and provides positive ways in which to improve city centre linkages.

For the past 20 years, BCCM has managed the Christmas Lighting Installation across the city, developing new locations and lobbying for capital investment.  In 2020, BCC opted to manage this scheme in-house but outsourced the wayleave agreements to BCCM between the building owners for Cross Street Features; and stand alone electricity supplies outside of the Commando Sockets.
