Join the Lord Mayor, Councillor Nuala McAllister and guests; the Cool FM Breakfast crew, Bing and Flop, The Twirlywoos, Milkshake Live’s Derek and Jen along with Milkshake Monkey and Cavehill Primary School choir as we kick off the festive season with the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
An evening of musical fun awaits with mini shows and traditional carols before the big switch on.
Taking place on Saturday 18 November, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, in front of City Hall, this annual festive light switch on is a great way for families to countdown to Christmas.
The show starts at 6.30pm until 7.15pm. There will be expected numbers of 12,000-15,000 in attendance. In order to facilitate set up for the event there will be road closures in place.

Suspension of parking on Donegall Place;
Suspension of parking on Upper Arthur Street;
Inner lane closure on Donegall Square North from Donegall Square West to East corners;
Installation of a pedestrian control system on Donegall Place junction with Donegall Square North.

Relocation of taxi rank on Donegall Square North to Donegall Square East.

Closure of Donegall Place and Donegall Square West to vehicular traffic;
Closure of Donegall Square North from Wellington Place to vehicular traffic with provision for Translink services to access Upper Queen Street;
Closure of Chichester Street to vehicular traffic with provision for Translink and Belfast Public Hire taxis to egress;
Pedestrian access to the above will be retained until 5.30pm, when the area will become a ticket holder only zone for ingress.

The annual Belfast Christmas Market will return to City Hall on Saturday 18 November - Saturday 23 December. Gates open at 12 noon on Saturday 18 and close at 6pm on Saturday 23 December. This year’s event will have even more variety for all you Christmas Market lovers to choose from, including a new spacious eating area where you can sit, relax and enjoy the tasty delights that the market has to offer.
