Bank Buildings restoration plans - Meeting for businesses

BANK BUILDINGS LOCAL BUSINESSES LETTER

You are invited to a dedicated meeting for neighbouring local retailers/businesses. The purpose of this meeting is to share proposed plans for the reconstruction of the Bank Buildings and to hear your feedback. This meeting will take place on the June 19th 2019 from 7pm - 8:30pm at Primark’s Castle Street store.

Advance registration is required to attend this meeting. To notify us of your attendance please email thebankbuildings@turley.co.uk, and we will confirm your registration.

As you are aware, the plan is to restore the Bank Buildings – one of Belfast’s most iconic heritage assets. The devastating fire of August 2018 significantly damaged the Bank Buildings and a retention system has been put in place to secure the building and reduce the cordon.

Primark has recently submitted a Proposal of Application  Notice (PAN) to Belfast City Council  outlining the proposed plans for the reconstruction of this strategically important location in Belfast’s city centre. Planning permission is required in order for Primark to start the reconstructive work and to complete the Bank Buildings extension to its existing store in Commonwealth House, Castle Street. Upon completion, these plans will make a major contribution to revitalising the city centre economy.

We have now entered the pre-application community  consultation (PACC)  phase,  prior to submission  of a planning application Belfast City Council in August.

In addition to the meeting, and as part of this consultation process, Primark will be organising two public information events at Primark’s Castle Street store. The first meeting is on June 20th 2019 from 3pm-8pm and the second is on June 25th 2019 from 11am-4pm.

These events will allow us to provide more detailed information on the proposals as well as allowing members of the public to submit any feedback on the plans.

As an important stakeholder for this project, we are eager to share the proposal with you, answer any questions you may have and provide you  with an opportunity  to give us your  feedback on  the plans. We hope you can attend either the retail/local business meeting on the 19th of June or either of the two public exhibitions.
