Talented, craft and jewellery maker and owner of Abacus Beads, Kathleen McGovern, was a recent participant on the council’s Revitalise programme.
Revitalise is a retail-based programme designed to help local small businesses across Belfast in areas such as financial management, PR, marketing and visual merchandising. Participants to the programme were given the opportunity to attend workshops lead by some of our leading high street brands such as M&S, Santander and Boots, and those who joined the Revitalise programme were also eligible to receive up to 10 hours of one-to-one business mentoring.
Kathleen signed up to the programme as she wanted to learn more about marketing her business through the various online channels of communication. Through the Revitalise programme, Kathleen was able to receive one-to-one mentoring, develop a social media marketing plan and she gained a better understanding of how she could use online marketing channels to best suit her business’ needs.
She said: “The mentoring support that I received through the Revitalise programme changed my mind set as to how I was approaching online marketing. After making and uploading my first tutorial video, reaction from customers was really positive, and this has certainly given me the confidence to really look at how I promote my business online, in a more proactive way going forward. I would recommend the council’s Revitalise programme to any business owner wanting additional support and guidance.”
